Artist Ann Waldron will be the first featured artist at the Gardiner Community Center’s new Gallery of the Arts, which has set its grand opening reception for early March.

“A resident of Gardiner for almost two decades, Ann started with watercolor painting while in California,” said Janet Johnson, a member of the center’s board. “Since moving to Washington state, she has embraced acrylic painting, and has fallen in love with the medium.”

The opening reception for the Gardiner Gallery of the Arts in Jefferson County near the boarder with Clallam County will run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 2. Attendees will have an opportunity to meet Waldron.

Johnson explained that the board for the Gardiner Community Center approved funding for the installation of the Gallery of the Arts’ display system, while its art committee has been drawn from two volunteers from the Gardiner community.

“The gallery will be hosting solo monthly shows, to encourage and celebrate the talents of local artists,” Johnson said. “This year’s calendar is filling up quickly, but we do have a couple of months still open.”

Johnson advised interested artists to submit two images of their work to either her at johnsonjanet55@yahoo.com or Waldron, who is also an organizer, at annwaldron45@yahoo.com.
