At a recent candidate forum, the candidates for Port Townsend City Council were asked about their stance on mask and vaccine mandates. While all favored using all of the tactics we have to defeat the COVID-19 pandemic, one answer stood out.
While Tyler Vega agreed with the others, he further noted that the controversy concerning masking and vaccinations was a symptom of another problem – too many of us are talking past our neighbors. He is exactly right. Whether at the national level or local level we must rediscover the ability to talk to those with differing opinions. Locally, we have numerous issues we must confront. Let’s elect someone who can engage a broad spectrum of Port Townsend residents to collectively find solutions to our challenges. Join me and vote for Tyler Vega for Port Townsend City Council.
