I am writing to agree with Noreen Parks letter about a raise for the city manager, “How can city justify salary,” Feb. 12. We should not be giving raises to any government employees or politicians, since 35% of the country does not get paid holidays, sick leave, or vacation but are still ambitious and held accountable. There is no way your tax dollars should be paying wages unless these people are at work, as the communist Democrats like to say this will help with inequity.
What has always been great about America is ambition is rewarded. Government employees have taken the easy way with being overpaid but not held to account. They should not be rewarded for it. Stop paying them when not at work! That would let the 35% hold on to a few more of our dollars.
