I must write a follow-up letter to the letter I sent to The Leader and was in the Opinion forum on Oct. 25, 2023.
That letter was titled ‘Critiquing Councils’ it was in response to the article in The Leader ‘Council Unopposed,’ on Oct. 18, 2023.
This letter is to again give focus to the ongoing problems for the City of Port Townsend by current Mayor David Faber and City Manager John Mauro. Both these guys are clearly using their positions to take advantage of the city for their personal gain, and they are clearly in cahoots with each other. These facts are more than obvious in their many quotes over the past few years in The Leader.
And so now, in recent articles over the last months, we learn of David Faber’s efforts to enhance the value of his property near the golf course with the zoning phases.
We have known City Manager John Mauro had greatly “padded” his resume to the city — that in itself should be enough to show him the door. Add to that, the revelations of Mauro’s bad behavior toward city employees and others. When is enough, enough? I say, as I hear from others I speak with, NOW is enough. This is predatory capitalism begun in the administration of former council member and mayor. Both Faber and Mauro are a big negative for this city and they must go.
