EJ upends Eagles in girls varsity tennis

East Jefferson corralled Klahowya 5-2 in girls tennis last week.

Maddie Hess powered EJ to a win in No. 1 singles, winning 6-3, 6-4 against Alia Catt.

In No. 2 singles, Juniper Cervenka also won convincingly, 6-3, 6-3 against Abby Hainline.

East Jefferson also prevailed in No. 3 singles, overtaking Linzi Geiger 7-5, 0-6, 10-5.

In No. 1 doubles, the powerhouse pair of Sophie Arnovitz and Tiffany Bell topped Jess Haines and Whitney Henrichson, 6-2, 6-4.

In No. 2 doubles, the Eagles’ Ella Koebelin and Sahara Soufi pulled out a victory, 6-4, 6-3 over Olivia Mattern and Caitlyn Boyd.

EJ outlasted Klahowya in No. 3 doubles, with Lily Morrison and Sophia Frank beating Rachel Biltoff and Ambrosha Tweedy 6-1, 6-2.

Ruby Hobbs and Jenna Hudson claimed the Eagles’ other win, with a 6-1, 6-1 showing in No. 4 doubles over Awstyn Sukert and Savannah Gallaway.

In junior varsity doubles action, Katie Clark and Adeline Gellert DePalma won 8-3 over Olivia Schmitt and Magdaline Ferland.
