Eisenhour has been a truly inspiring leader | Letter to the editor

Heidi Eisenhour is a home-grown and an already deeply immersed community leader in Jefferson County. She understands what it is like to live here year after year and to carve out a living in up and down times.

Over the years she has pioneered innovative strategies to help build our county through strong coalitions that support our economy and the unique nature of our community.

Her work with the Jefferson Land Trust, the Northwest Maritime Center, the Jefferson County Farm Tour and the County Library were all effective because Heidi is a great team player. She recognizes and supports diverse perspectives and harnesses them to find creative, lasting solutions.

Her proven track record as a business owner, executive director and chief financial officer give her critical personal and professional perspectives on the challenges we all face now as a community. She knows how to make hard decisions as a leader. She understands the impacts of these decisions to working families.

Heidi has always openly pursued alliances to bridge gaps in the community to bring people and opportunities together. She’s a good listener and her endorsements — farmers, fishermen and women, environmentalists, small business owners and community leaders, local and regional elected officials — vividly demonstrate the high regard in which she’s held by diverse groups of people. This kind of broad support will be critical in the months ahead.

Heidi and I have worked side-by-side for many years helping one another and the community with many events that support saving and preserving our critical natural resources for future generations.

I have seen how she treats people in both the most joyous and the most challenging circumstances. She is a truly inspiring leader, and I know her to be an infinitely caring person who is driven for the greater good of all in the community.

She’s exactly who I want to be my county commissioner.
