It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of David Roy (Dave) Lindsey. He passed on January 18, 2025 at the age of 70, after an unexpected medical emergency and will be deeply missed. Born in Port Townsend WA, January 3, 1955 to Ed and Mary Lindsey, Dave spent his life in Port Townsend, and appreciated the simple things. He loved fishing, hunting, crabbing and enjoying a beer at the Hilltop after work. He spent many years bartending locally and was awarded Bartender of the Year several years ago. He was a part of the local pool league for many years and was a well-respected player. He also loved road trips in his corvette and cruising it through the Rhody parade. Anyone who knew Dave, knew he was a firecracker, and he was deeply loyal to his friends and family.
Dave graduated from Port Townsend High School in 1973. Dave continued what is a natural ability in the Lindsey family, excavation and dirt work. In his early adult years, he worked for his Grandpa Roy and Uncles Carl and Jerry, at Lindsey and Sons Excavating. This gave him the knowledge and experience to venture out on his own, starting Lindsey Backhoe Service, which he operated for many years. During his tenure with his own backhoe service, he continued handling the cemetery burials, following (the work of) his uncle Malcolm Lindsey and cousin Dennis Lindsey. Dave was also a long-time member and devotee of the PT Elks Club where he was awarded Elk of the year and PT Legion.
Dave was preceded in passing by his parents Ed and Mary. He is remembered by his uncle Carl Lindsey of Port Ludlow, his half-sister Cecelia of New Orleans LA, and many cousins and close friends.
A Celebration of Life and Potluck for Dave will be held at the Highway 20 Roadhouse, Port Townsend from 2 – 5 pm February 22, 2025.
