A new case of COVID-19 has been found in Jefferson County, health officials reported Wednesday afternoon.
This week's confirmed infection pushed the number of coronavirus cases in Jefferson County to 51. The new case is the first in the county since July 15.
A total of 4,780 people have been tested for COVID-19 through Wednesday, July 29.
A total of 4,678 have tested negative for the disease. County officials said test results for 51 people are still pending.
According to the latest statistics for Jefferson County, 28 of those who have tested positive are female, and 23 have been male.
Most of the confirmed COVID-19 cases — 33 — have involved people over the age of30.
