COVID-19 case count rises to 253 in Jefferson County

Three Jefferson County residents have tested positive for COVID-19, public health officials announced Friday.

The cumulative total of coronavirus cases in the county rose to 253 on Jan. 8.

The new cases reported Jan. 8 were linked to a mid-county woman in her 50s, a Port Townsend woman in her 40s, and a Port Townsend man in his 60s.

A total of 36 residents were still awaiting COVID-19 test results late Friday.

Health officials also said 27 people with COVID-19 remain in isolation.

County health officials reported Jan. 8 that 199 residents in the county have recovered from COVID-19. A total of 22 residents have been hospitalized after getting the coronavirus, and two deaths in Jefferson County has been attributed to the disease since the start of the pandemic. 

According to Jefferson County Public Health, a total of 16,117 tests have been administered for the coronavirus since the start of the pandemic, and 15,828 tests have come back negative.

Through Friday, 113 COVID cases have been found in Port Townsend residents; 115 in mid-county residents; and 25 in south county (Quilcene, Brinnon, and West Jefferson).

More females than males have tested positive for COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic in Jefferson County; 131 females have been confirmed with the coronavirus, and 122 males.
