Teddy Bear Hike: Cappy’s Woods and Trails. 10 a.m. Meet in Port Townsend, at the south end of Willamette Street, where it ends at an access point to Cappy’s Trails. The 16th Annual Teddy Bear Hike will be led by Fred Weinmann and will welcome its hikers to the New Year by walking through the wilderness within the Quimper wildlife corridor. Tish’s love of cooking and entertaining has complemented Tom’s boating skills and knowledge of Alaskan waters, as they’ve used their boat as many as 500 hours a year (or more) to share the Alaskan waters in summer with people who want a special yachting experience. Rotary Club of East Jefferson County: Walking the Camino de Santiago Trail in Spain. Noon-1 p.m. Old Alcohol Plant Restaurant. Rotary Club member T.J. Plastow and her daughter, Rian, will recount the 44 days and 520 miles they walked the Camino de Santiago, one of the world’s great walks. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Camino is a network of pilgrims’ ways leading to the shrine of the apostle Saint James the Great, in the cathedral of Santiago de Compostela in Galicia, in northwestern Spain. Many follow its routes as a form of spiritual path, or retreat for their spiritual growth. It is also popular with hiking and cycling enthusiasts, and organized tour groups. The Plastows spent a year studying the trail before traversing it on foot from the late summer through the early autumn of 2019. They will discuss their preparations, the trail itself, where they stayed and and the people they met along the way. An optional cafeteria-style lunch of soup, salad and sandwich is available starting at 11:30 a.m. Guests are welcome.
