The city of Port Townsend is seeking applicants to join Fort Worden Public Development Authority’s board of directors.

With two board members leaving after fulfilling the durations of their terms, the city invites applications and re-applications for the PDA board.

Applicants will be screened by a nomination committee with representatives from the city, Washington State Parks, and the PDA.

The development authority was established by the city to manage, promote, develop, secure funding, and enhance Fort Worden State Park and establish a Lifelong Learning Center at the park as envisioned by the 2008 Fort Worden Long-Range Plan.

Port Townsend Mayor David Faber, with concurrence of the Port Townsend City Council, is responsible for appointing members of the PDA’s board.

“The success of the Fort Worden PDA is fundamental to the success of our community. Since their recent appointment, the new board of directors has made significant progress in stabilizing and strengthening Fort Worden,” Faber said.

“I thank those two members whose terms have been completed, encourage them to reapply, and also encourage others to apply.”

The board of directors is responsible for supervising the PDA’s activities, policies, as well as appointing the executive director, who is tasked with handling day-to-day affairs. The size of the board ranges from seven to 11 members. New appointees to the board will serve three-year terms.
