Jefferson County Commissioner Greg Brotherton finished Election Night on a happy note.

Brotherton, the incumbent District 3 commissioner who is seeking a second term, led the three-candidate pack in the Primary Election and will advance to the November ballot.

Early vote returns had Brotherton well in front with 56.2 percent of all ballots cast.

"The whole campaign team is feeling good tonight," Brotherton said after the initial vote tally.

"It was a goal to earn a majority of District 3 votes and I am really happy that it looks like we achieved that," he said.

Republican Marcia Kelbon will also advance to the General Election following her second-place finish. She had 31.5 percent of the vote in the Election Night tally.

Jon Cooke, the second Republican on the ballot, had 12.1 percent of the vote.

Brotherton said his efforts to reach voters will continue in the lead-up to the November election.

"There is a lot of work still throughout Jefferson County before the General Election. I hope to see people at the Jefferson County Fair next to learn how I can serve them better," he said.

A total of 3,524 ballots were counted Tuesday.

A second tally of remaining ballots is planned for Wednesday.
