Be prepared
County kicks off neighborhood preparedness sessions March 20 with Jefferson County’s Neighbors Helping Neighbors and Volunteer Communication programs. They aim to provide a simple roadmap to help residents efficiently and effectively respond to disaster situations with their neighbors. The idea is that neighborhoods that are prepared can save lives, reduce the severity of injuries and trauma, reduce property damage, and provide the means to communicate when the usual systems are not available.
The Jefferson County Library, at 620 Cedar Ave. in Port Hadlock, will host these monthly presentations on disaster and emergency preparedness with the first one set for 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 20.
Each session will focus on a different preparedness topic, and provide steps to prepare for various emergencies, including winter storms, earthquakes and wildfires.
These talks are a collaborative effort between several groups that support Jefferson County’s emergency preparedness and responses.
