Another example of extreme mismanagement

The truth is served and the public is well informed when reporters report the whole story, not one that is biased and full of errors and innuendo. Here are the facts regarding the new Quilcene food bank building: a member of the food bank board of directors put a down payment on a property located in central Quilcene near the Community Center.  The board had been exploring building a food bank since they were sharing quarters with the Community Center and had to break down and restart the food bank every week.

She then offered the property to the food bank, the offer was accepted and plans were begun for design and permitting.  The Board approved plans noting that the project would  be fully funded with funds on hand.

Construction began using a highly qualified local contractor, who brought on equally qualified local labor, with many volunteer hours.  By April, the roof was ready to go on, when the newly hired executive director, Patricia Hennessy and a new board of directors suddenly halted construction. Had they not done so, there would now be a fully functioning Quilcene Food Bank in its new building, already paid for with the funds allocated for the project.

The halting of the construction is yet another example of extreme mismanagement by the current executive director, which includes firing of volunteer food bank managers without cause, (but plenty of published, never proven innuendo), directing that the walk-in cooler in the barn at the Tri Area food bank be dismantled, resulting in an infestation of rats, and now accusing the Board member who gave the Quilcene Food Bank the property on which to build the new food bank, and who shepherded the permit process and construction of the building, of nepotism and voting her off the board.

The executive director and the board of directors of the Food Bank should resign in shame!
