Following an alleged assault and structure fire March 24 in the Kelly Road area of Brinnon, a Brinnon woman was arrested and booked into the Jefferson County Jail on charges of violating a protection order, second degree assault and second degree arson.
The first two charges are gross misdemeanors.
The woman, Keri Leanne Nelson, 49, allegedly assaulted a neighbor around 8 p.m., then returned home to her own residence. Moments later, according to a sheriff’s office report, the assailant’s house was reported to be on fire. Sheriff’s deputies arrived on the scene, arrested Nelson and fire fighting units with the Brinnon Fire Department remained on scene to extinguish the fire and investigate its cause and origin.
The victim suffered minor, superficial injuries to her arm and was not hospitalized. The house, a modular home, was a total loss, according to the sheriff’s office.
Nelson was arraigned in March 25.
