A rising folk voice and a longstanding rock icon will converge together as Alice Howe and Freebo are headed to Port Townsend for a late June concert.
The duo will play at the Palindrome at Eaglemount Cidery at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 30.
Howe and Freebo present a unique study in contrasts, bringing together a venerable music icon and a talented newcomer. Each a compelling performer alone, they both lead and support each other with well-crafted songs filled with flawless harmonies and tasteful instrumentation.
A rising voice in modern folk, singer-songwriter Howe’s music is described as a modern love letter to 1960s and ‘70s folk and timeless blues. Originally hailing from Boston, and now living in Los Angeles, California, Howe released her critically acclaimed debut album, “Visions,” last May.
Produced by Freebo and recorded in Bakersfield, with a stellar cast of musicians, “Visions” features new originals alongside her interpretations of iconic songs from her family’s vast record collection.
Freebo is a genuine folk, rock, and blues icon with more than 40 years of recording and touring experience, sharing the stage with Bonnie Raitt for a decade and also performing with such notables as Maria Muldaur, John Mayall, Ringo Starr, Dr. John, Neil Young, and others.
Regarded as one of the most gifted singer-songwriters of today, Freebo is a multi-award winner and finalist in numerous songwriting contests, including honors as the Best Folk Artist in 2007 by the Los Angeles Music Awards.
He has also appeared on “Saturday Night Live,” “The Muppet Show,” “The Midnight Special,” and in concert with the legendary Spinal Tap.
Tickets are $20 at alice-freebo.brownpapertickets.com or at the door. Proof of vaccination is required for entry.
