70 new COVID-19 infections in five days in Jefferson County

Seventy new cases of COVID-19 have been reported in the past five days in Jefferson County, according to Jefferson County Public Health.

The new cases pushed the total number of  coronavirus infections in Jefferson County  to 805 on Tuesday.

Most of those 70 new cases — 45 — were in Port Townsend.

Nineteen of the cases were in the mid-county area, while five additional cases were in south county, and one on the West End.

A total of 108 residents were still in isolation Tuesday due to potential COVID-19 contact.

There have been 30,485 tests for COVID-19 in Jefferson County since the start of the pandemic, and 29,426 have resulted in negative results.

In Jefferson County, 592 people have recovered from COVID-19 and 53 people have been hospitalized for the disease. (People are considered "recovered" at 28 days from the onset of symptoms if they are alive and not hospitalized, according to the state Department of Health.)

Six deaths of Jefferson County residents have been linked to COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic.
