But it apparently doesn’t do a Democratic president much good to nominate a member of the Supreme Court if he has a Republican Senate . . . etc.

In any case, Elaine Chao had at least 25 years or so of public service before being appointed to serve as Secretary of Transportation under Trump, he being a total newcomer on the political stage. And any malfeasance on her part appears to have been conveniently ignored, as Trump had great use for her husband Mitch McConnell, majority leader of the Republican-majority U.S. Senate.

All bets now, of course, are off—with sidelined Donald raving away ineffectively in the quicksand that is his own being. McConnell is a
“broken-down hack” who helped “his crazy wife and family get rich on China." Whatever happened to good-old Mitch, who helped Donald Trump stack the Supreme Court? Or Mitch’s wife Elaine, who quietly drew her monthly check as transportation secretary and stayed out of the public eye?
