The storming of the US Capitol by a pro-Trump mob was the culmination of a year of white nationalist and anti-democratic violence that steadily intensified and featured the direct incitement of U.S. President Trump. It’s frustrating to see the forces of white male supremacy ignoring the lasting effects of global warming, medical science, etc. to embrace the short-term advantages touted by offhand generalities from a phony deity such as Trump.

His father Fred Trump, says history, was officially pronounced as affected by Alzheimer’s about age 87. Donald would be only 82 at the end of a second term to which he might be elected in 2024. But then, I guess that’s just normally “close.” Trump’s normal attention to world affairs and usual presidential language came to the fore recently as he assailed Sen. Minority Leader Mitch McConnell as a "disloyal sleaze bag" after the Jan. 6 committee, a week or so ago, aired a video of McConnell blaming the ex-president for the Capitol riot. The mob was "provoked by the president and other powerful people," McConnell said in the clip.

So under the old bus, with so may others, goes McConnell, who played a major role in stacking the Supreme Court for Trump. About the only old loyalist remaining with the ex-president is attorney Rudy Giuliani. What a sad interlude in U.S. history.
