"He (Brian Kelley Editor) won the top prize in investigative journalism for his coverage of the financial meltdown of the Fort Worden Public Development Authority. Kelly also took first place in courts/crime coverage."

The online story regarding the part insider and Executive Director Dave Robeson played in the financial "meltdown" and comments was removed without any explanation. None. Self Censorship.

Blame was shifted to "Drunk Donna". No follow ups on the State Audit and what "Drunk Donna" will be charged with. Other less connected folk are paraded in orange jump suits in the Leader regularly for.

A+ for your attempt Brian Kelley. What stopped you?

The missing Parking Funds tied to the Silverwater story was made to go away a couple of years ago under Editor Dean Miller. His Leader also won awards. He was also digging into parking issues that today still reek of collusion and benefit Real Estate interests on City Council. Dean left quickly. The Leader now has nice pictures instead.

I was offered a "Best Of" award a few months ago for my business. I didn't respond. My dad told me when I was young that the best voting machine was National Cash Register. That means customers who return again and again. And need parking.

The leader has its fans and supporters of an image they believe in. Digging deep is not the image. Congrats on your awards. Keep the lid on. Don't blow it off. That is tradition going back decades. Some advertisers might take dollars away if they were highlighted. It isn't an easy thing to be the Fourth Estate. Especially when most readers don't seem to know the difference.
