"Washington's inland sea" is the poor man's rendition of SALISH SEA, the name officially adopted in both Canada and the USA more than ten years ago. Is it so difficult to say, "Salish Sea"? It conveys respect for the peoples who lived here before colonization and endure and prosper today.

WA360 will hopefully lead by example, and use at least some place names that reflect the estuary's native heritage, not merely names that were applied by explorers representing the now-obsolete empires of England and Spain.
