All very well said, Fred!! I'm 100% with your sensibilities. Thank you for comprehensively presenting the overall aspects of this Golf Course/Aquatic Facility issue. As you say, the 'preferred path' has been obvious from the get-go for anyone paying close attention. You're right - the pool rebuild plan should most definitely be scaled waaaay back and the City's attentions and funds need reprioritizing. With all our infrastructure in such precarious shape and our town's functionability on the brink, the big $$ projects such as these two new roundabouts, the Sims Way Gateway reconfiguration, and the $50 million dollar State of the Art Athletic Club/Aquatic Center should be put on hold, scaled back or forgot about altogether. All three of those projects will are huge expenses for the City to undertake in spite of other entitys' involvement and grant funds. The cost to shore up our Golf Course is quite minimal for the City comparatively and as was stated in another editorial this week, 'With proper support and advertising, it could attract potentially hundreds of golfers and many thousands of dollars a year to the town and its businesses.' As was also stated in that editorial 'The restaurant is a prime location for indoor and outdoor dining, and could be a fantastic destination for visitors to the town, and its residents.' True! I've always loved eating there out on the deck!
