Well said. And corollary to this, is that the land is OPEN, unfenced, which communicates an openness about the community as a whole. It's an increasingly scarce value in our country. And in our town as well: as the town continues to fill in, tall fences have gone up around houses and gardens, to exclude deer certainly, but also to exclude people. It's antisocial and undermines community.

As recently as a decade ago, I could easily walk my precinct, ring a doorbell and discuss an upcoming school bond or other community vote. Not so easy today. In that loss of neighborly dialogue, so much more is being lost as well. Pandemic isolation has exacerbated that condition.
