The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office received 293 calls for service between Saturday, May 6 and Friday, May 12. Below are selected reports.

At 2:40 p.m. Tuesday, May 9 in Brinnon, a property owner reported a burglary at a cabin.

Someone jimmied open the main door to the cabin, then used what appeared to be an axe to smash open a basement door.

The property owner had last been at the cabin a week earlier. He arrived to find the front door open.

Several guitars, a ukulele, and a welder were missing.

The resident said he would make a list of the stolen items.

A deputy responded to investigate the burglary and take photographs of the damage.

At 3:18 p.m. Tuesday, May 9 in Port Hadlock, a man who was renting a storage unit said he had been told by the owner of the business that his unit had been broken into a few months earlier. The caller said he found out about the break-in after he visited the storage unit and found a different lock on the unit.

The man said he was missing some wire, as well as three boxes of medical records from patients he had likely seen during the 1970s.

At 3:34 p.m. Tuesday, May 9 in Brinnon, emergency dispatchers were called about an incident of indecent exposure near the Quilcene Community Center.

A caller said a transient man in the campground was naked and yelling.

The camp site was next to the community center and in view of the children’s playground.

The caller said the man was not acting aggressively.

A deputy contacted the man, who appeared to be intoxicated.

The man said he “had an accident” and needed to clean himself. He said he did not see anyone nearby as he was cleaning up.

A deputy noted a woman and child had been at the playground at the time of the call. The transient was given a trespassing warning and he left the scene.
