One man was transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle in serious condition after being stabbed on Jefferson Street in Port Townsend July 1.
According to East Jefferson Fire and Rescue Public Information Officer Bill Beezley, officials were dispatched at 9:20 a.m. after a stabbing was called in.
One person was airlifted to the hospital in Seattle while another was transported to Jefferson Healthcare for evaluation.
According to Port Townsend Police Department Sgt. Troy Surber both individuals were male and there was only one victim.
He confirmed the male stabbed was a Port Townsend homeless man, while the suspect was a Port Angeles homeless man.
“Something led up to the incident,” Surber told The Leader when asked if he could confirm what kind of altercation occurred before the stabbing.
Surber confirmed the stabbing did occur with a knife.
Surber said police checked the area June 30 during routine patrol and there were no signs of individuals living at the location. However, today, Surber said there were items that indicated someone had stayed there.
According to Port Townsend Police Department PIO Keppie Keplinger, the incident is still under investigation and no other details are available at this time.
The area has re-opened as of 11 a.m.
