Biomass protest in Olympia
Biomass protest in Olympia
David McWethy (left), Elaine Bailey, Steve Bailey, Joe Breskin, O'Neill Louchard and Ed Robeau car-pooled Wednesday to a protest in Olympia against biomass projects on the Olympic Peninsula. They expected to join protesters from Mason and Thurston counties at the Olympic Region Clean Air Agency. Their message: biomass projects like the one proposed by the Port Townsend Paper Corporation are not eco-friendly. Group member say they have been disappointed by the speed at which the state Department of Ecology is processing permits and inability of Ecology to answer questions about air emissions as they relate to potential health concerns.
